Stop fearing the Christmas festivities!
So over the last couple of weeks I have heard so many people talking and worrying about ‘gaining weight’ over the Christmas period! So lets get a few things straight.
You DO NOT have to starve yourself for weeks before Christmas in preparation or train twice a day for 8 weeks before to get ready for all the food you'll eat.
Christmas is about enjoying time with friends and family and not worrying about what you're eating and drinking.
Enjoy the mince pies and chocolate for breakfast, enjoy the copious amounts of alcohol and roast potatoes because it’s one (or a few in my case) days out of the year and it is NOT going to set you back or ruin any progress you have made over the last few months.
The other 364 days of the you year can spend looking after your body and fuelling it with the goodness it needs to function at its best!
Health and fitness is a LIFESTYLE and that means balance. You don't want to spend every Christmas worrying about what you can and can’t eat because guess what… you can eat what ever you want!
In the last few years I have tried everything, from restricting myself before Christmas to only allowing myself 2 roast potatoes instead of 6 on Christmas day - did this help me? NOT AT ALL!
What do I do at Christmas now? I eat what I want and I drink what I want, and I have the BEST time with my friends and family with not a care in the world about the 10 mince pies I eat for breakfast! And once it’s all over (and the leftovers are finished) I go back to my every day life of training and eating a healthy, balanced diet.
So please don't sweat the small stuff! After it’s all said and done you will go back to your every day life and any lbs that you gained will come flying off!
