My 3 top tips to growing your peach!

We live in a generation where big butts are in fashion, while ALL butts are beautiful no matter the shape or size, if you ARE one of those people that have tried/are trying to grow your glutes here are my top tips to achieving a peachy butt.

1. GET LIFTING

I know the thought of lifting weights can be daunting, because either you don't know where to start OR you're worried about getting too muscly. First of all EVERYONE starts somewhere, I remember the first time I walked into a weights room (admittedly a few years ago now), I felt so uncomfortable, but after I got over that and started seeing results I've never looked back! And secondly, you WILL NOT get the ‘hulk’ look by lifting heavy weights, most ladies simply do not have the level of testosterone that men do to get that big, bulky look.

Some of my favourite exercises for growing my glutes are- barbell hip thrusts, deadlifts, squats, lunges and Bulgarian split squats. Compound exercises will be your best friends. To increase your muscle mass you need to be using a weight that actually challenges your muscles, you need to put tension on your muscles and make them work HARD.

2. MAKE SURE YOU’RE EATING ENOUGH FOOD

You will make very little progress growing your glutes if you are massively restricting your calories. Muscle growth needs food! Why? Because when you are building muscle you are creating tissue you didn't have before which requires extra energy…and that energy comes from the calories in food, therefore you want to be filling your body with good, nutrient dense food. In my opinion the quality of your calories is just as important as the quantity.

3. TIME AND CONSISTENCY

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is a peachy bum. You need to give it time, I know it can be frustrating (trust me sometimes the day after a heavy leg session I look in the mirror expecting my bum to be bigger than it was the day before KNOWING it won’t be). You need to be patient and consistent with your diet and training and the magic WILL happen.

My own before and after photos!

When I first got into fitness a few years ago initially I actually lost a lot of weight from my butt, because like a lot of ladies that are new to fitness, you would only find me on a running machine or a cross trainer doing endless amounts of cardio. It wasn’t until I started weight training and eating a healthy, balanced diet that I started to realise I could actually change the shape of my body through the correct training. I had always felt quite shapeless and by building up certain muscles (especially my back and glutes) I have managed to completely change the shape of my body! But it definitely didn’t happen over night and I have learnt a lot along the way. So be patient and trust the process!

It’s so important to try your hardest not to compare yourself to others, we are who we are, and everyone is beautiful for their own unique reasons.
