What’s in my weekly shopping basket?

I always tell my new clients that the first few weeks of a lifestyle/diet change can feel difficult and frustrating. This isn’t because of what you're actually eating, but because most people have certain foods that they put in their shopping basket every week out of habit and changing that pattern takes a little bit of getting used to, because for the first few weeks you do have to make more effort to think about what you’re buying and it can seem slightly daunting at first, but TRUST ME, it gets easier and it will become your new ‘normal’ in no time .

These are some of my MUST HAVE foods on my shopping list:

*side note* all of these foods are just MY personal preference. This doesn't mean they all have to be must haves for you!

 
  • Peppers (all colours)

  • Broccoli 

  • Green beans 

  • Courgette 

  • Carrots 

  • Spinach 

  • Avocado 

  • Red and white onion

  • Garlic

  • Cucumber 

  • Tomatos 

  • Raspberries 

  • Blueberries 

  • Apples 

  • Bananas 

  • Bag of mixed frozen berries


  • Chicken breasts 

  • 5% lean minced beef

  • Turkey mince 

  • Turkey steaks 

  • Salmon fillets 

  • Smoked salmon 

  • Wafer thin chicken/ham/turkey slices

  • Prawns 

  • Tinned tuna in spring water 

  • Egg noodles 

  • Brown sliced warburton thins

  • Wholemeal bread (yes, I eat and love bread)

  • Oats 

  • Wholegrain (brown) rice - I personally get the ‘Uncle Bens microwave rice’ because I'm inpatient

  • Sweet Potato 

  • New potatoes 

  • Wholegrain wraps 

  • Eggs 

  • 0% fage greek yoghurt 

  • Semi skimmed milk

  • Almond milk

  • Peanut or almond butter 

My pantry must haves

  • Weetabix 

  • Ryvitas 

  • Olive oil

  • Heinz no added sugar baked beans 

  • Tinned chopped tomatoes 

  • Kidney beans 

  • Lentils 

  • Chickpeas 

  • Dried herbs 

  • Pom bear (because I love crisps and these are low calorie)

  • Sweet chilli sauce 

  • Reduced salt soy sauce 

  • Heinz 50% less salt and sugar tomato ketchup

  • Sriracha hot chilli sauce 

  • Lea and perrins Worcestershire sauce 

  • Honey 

  • Lindt 70% cocoa dark chocolate 

  • High lights 38kcal low sugar hot chocolate 

Although these aren’t the only items of food I eat, these are my kitchen must haves! Happy shopping!
